The Little Mermaid Blu-ray & DVD to Include All New Sing Along Version (2024)

Disney has shared new details about the home media release of the live-action remake of The Little Mermaid. Starring Halle Bailey as Ariel, the film was a big hit at the box office, and many fans are likely waiting to see when they'll be able to own the film for themselves. It's now been announced that the movie is hitting Digital retailers (Apple TV, Prime Video, and Vudu/Fandango) on July 25, while the 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD releases will follow on Sept. 19, 2023. A new promo has also been released to tease the home media release of The Little Mermaid, which you can check out below.

Many Disney home media releases for their musical films will include Sing Along versions, and there's an all-new Sing Along version of The Little Mermaid that comes with the home media release for the film. That's obviously great news for fans who enjoyed the music in the new movie, which featured a mix of covers from the original animated movie along with original songs written specifically for the remake.

Rob Marshall directed the film using a screenplay by David Magee. The movie is produced by Marc Platt, Lin-Manuel Miranda, John DeLuca, and Rob Marshall. Along with Halle Bailey, the film stars Jonah Hauer-King, Melissa McCarthy, Javier Bardem, Noma Dumezweni, Art Malik, Daveed Diggs, Jacob Tremblay, and Awkwafina.

Per the synopsis, The Little Mermaid is "visionary filmmaker Rob Marshall’s live-action reimagining of Disney’s beloved animated musical classic, the story of Ariel, a beautiful and spirited young mermaid with a thirst for adventure. The youngest of King Triton’s daughters and the most defiant, Ariel longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea and, while visiting the surface, falls for the dashing Prince Eric. While mermaids are forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. She makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, which gives her a chance to experience life on land but ultimately places her life – and her father’s crown – in jeopardy."
