Notre Dame currently has 22 commits from the class of 2023. The Fighting Irish are ranked No. 3 nationally per the 247Sports Composite Team Recruiting Rankings. They aren’t done yet and plan to add some names to the list throughout the coming months, as we head into the Early Signing Period in December and National Signing Day in February.

Here is the latest on the names fromthe top target list.

SLIDE1 of 9

Five-star edge Samuel M'Pemba: Notre Dame, Georgia, Miami and Oregon look to be the major players in the recruitment of 247Sports’ No. 26 overall player in the country. The Fighting Irish believe M’Pemba will be on campus for an official visit in November when Clemson comes to town. Smart money is on the Bulldogs right now, but if he remains uncommitted heading into the trip to South Bend, all bets are off.

Four-star running back Jeremiyah Love: Two weeks ago I reported that if I had a Crystal Ball pick in for the No. 66 overall player in America, it would be on Texas A&M. I still feel that way as of today. However, one thing that could help the Fighting Irish is that I’m told a decision is no longer expected before Love’s senior season gets underway. The longer this goes, at least in my opinion, the better shot they have. Love seems torn on a few schools and return visits could occur early this fall. Notre Dame, Texas A&M and Michigan are three schools I’m watching closely here and all of them could get Love on campus in the next month or so. In fact, he'll be at Notre Dame for thehome-opener vs. Marshall. Beyond that, when he’s ready, he’ll make a commitment.

SLIDE3 of 9

Four-star edge Chandavian Bradley: Notre Dame would like to flip the Tennessee commit, but there hasn’t been too much traction at this point. Unless things are happening behind the scenes and things are being kept quiet, the staff doesn’t have a ton of optimism yet. This one feels like it could only change if he takes a game day official visit to Notre Dame later this fall.

SLIDE4 of 9

Four-star edge Caleb Herring: This one is similar to Bradley. Again, Notre Dame would like to get in the mix with the Tennessee commit, but it’s going to be even harder to flip him in my opinion. He’s a top prospect from Tennessee and he’s committed to the Volunteers. They have plenty of buzz on the recruiting trail and as time goes on, that class continues to get closer and closer. It’s going to be a tough pull, but Notre Dame will continue to kick the tires.

SLIDE5 of 9

Four-star edge Joshua Mickens: This one is all about the long game. Notre Dame is hopeful that a strong season and consistent effort ends up grabbing the LSU commit’s attention. One of the best in the Hoosier State, Mickens would be a welcomed addition to the Notre Dame commit list and the staff wants him to state in-state. Again, if there is any change here, it’s likely one that happens later this fall if at all.

SLIDE6 of 9

Four-star edge Blake Purchase: Notre Dame is in contention here, but I haven’t gotten the feeling that the Fighting Irish have made a strong push quite yet. The staff is looking to get him on campus for an official visit, but nothing is locked in as of today. Iowa State looks to be the top contender as of today. Oregon is also in play. I think Notre Dame could land him if they put an all-in effort into doing so, but right now I like the Cyclones.

SLIDE7 of 9

Four-star quarterback Avery Johnson: As we said they’d do, we feel confident in reporting that Notre Dame is recruiting the Kansas State commit once again. The Irish flipped four-star running back / receiver Dylan Edwards from the Wildcats and would love to do the same thing with Johnson. If you remember, Johnson was someone that Tommy Rees was extremely high on early in the process well before he blew up nationally, but they felt great about landing Dante Moore so he stopped recruiting Johnson. Obviously Moore eventually picked Oregon, so Notre Dame went back to the drawing board. The Irish are making a run at Johnson. We’ll see if anything comes of it.

SLIDE8 of 9

Four-star quarterback Kenny Minchey: Notre Dame is still recruiting the Pittsburgh commit and he has been receptive, but in talking with sources close to the Panthers coaching staff, they believe he’ll stick with his decision to play for head coach Pat Narduzzi. Obviously one visit could change everything, so Notre Dame is working hard to get him on campus this fall.

SLIDE9 of 9

Four-star receiver Taeshaun Lyons: My Crystal Ball is on Notre Dame for the California prospect. Washington was the early favorite, but this is one I expect Chansi Stuckey to land come decision time. Look for him to take an official visit to Notre Dame in the fall and we’ll see where things go at that point.
